Hello,

New member here, I just purchased a Panasonic VT50 and realized my old Technics receiver isn't going to cut it anymore. I've got a pair of Cerwin Vega LS-15s as front speakers and a pair of 4th gen Bose 201's as rear speakers. I'm looking for a center channel and a new receiver for a 5.0 setup (sub to come later). I've been looking at the Denon 2313 and the 3313 for my receiver and a Cerwin Vega center channel for timbre matching. I'd like to get a nicer center channel ($350-$500 range) but I keep reading that the center channel should match the left and right speakers. How important is this? Also Ive been hearing Cerwin Vega isn't that great for home theater... Is it worth it to sell and start over? Any opinions and/or suggestions would be appreciated!

I'll give my "barely initiated" point of view -

The 2313 and 3313 have good auto calibration capabilities so I would buy the receiver and center channel, calibrate it, and see how it sounds. If you are unsatisfied or notice serious discrepancies between your center and L/R, then upgrade. The smarter members on here can probably give you an answer based on the crossovers, SPL, and a variety of other acronyms that I'm still learning, but it all comes down to whether or not you are happy with the sound.

I'm one of those budget home theatre guys (as my full EMPTek system will attest) so I would try the lower cost option (center only) first and only upgrade your L/R to match if you are unhappy with the sound.
