Home Theater Setup - no sound through TV

Have setup home theater system. Sound works if you play DVD/CD or listen to radio. Hoewever, when you want to watch regular cable--should it not play through the new speakers instead of speakers on tv??

How do you have your TV/cable connected to the receiver?

connect your TV Audio OUT connector to Receiver/AMP/HTIB DVD (depends on what system you have)audio IN connector and then put your HTS system in TV mode, you should hear the TV sounds on the HTS. But dont forget to mute your TV.
