I finally got all my components for my Home Theater, problem is I cant get it to work properly. The sound is awful and really low, I did some research and with what I got I thought I was going to get blown away, and to top it off my subwoofer doesnt work (unless its something I'm doing wrong).Any tips and comments will be greatly appreciated...
This is what I have:

Receiver - Pioneer VSX-1015TXK (120W x7)
Center - JBL EC35 E Series (150W)
Front - JBL E100 (125W continuous/500Wpeak)
Subwoofer - Infinity PS12 (300W RMS)
Surround - Polk R50 (150W peak)
Surround Back - Infinity Primus 150 (100Wpeak)

Speakers are connected with 14 AWG wire and subwoofer has a THX Monster
subwoofer cable (LFE). The receiver calibrates its self and it sees the subwoofer, I can hear it (very low) wheat the receiver is testing connections but when is done there is no sound. When I play movies that have that THX setup screen it plays a sound on all speakers exempt the sub, its like I dont have one the sub even goes on stand-by after 15 minutes, the other thing is that I have to put the receiver at 70% volume and its not loud at all, its like normal like 40% of my tv volume. I'm going crazy, my connections are there, I re-connected twice already tried different settings, movies, tv shows and nothing no sub no volume. PLEASE HELP ME!!

Without the specifics of how you have it hooked up it will be tough. OK...you should have the Audio from the DVD to the receiver connected with either a Toslink or Digital coax cable. Then make sure you have the proper audio input selected on the receiver (Toslink or coax, not analog). On the DVD player you should go into the menu and turn off the audio decoding, on the receiver make sure that it is set up to do the audio decoding. For the sub, make sure the crossover point is set correctly and also that the volume on the sub is up. Other than that I don't know.

I just bought the Pioneer myself and I love it, personally. I too was a little surprised when I hooked everything up and couldnt hear anything- only to discover the volume was way too low. Most of my movie watching with this receiver is between -20 and -10 decibels (when I'm by myself, at any rate). Since decibels are not a linear function, I would't be concerned about you having to turn up the "volume". Also, the receiver sets the sub crossover at 80htz by default, so adjust your sub or receiver accordingly. My setup is just as power hungry than yours (see my review ) so I don't know quite what to say in regards to your setup as yet.

Setrup the bass management.

Hey guys thanks the for the tips.

Well after messing with the receiver I finallly figured it out!
The volume settings on the receiver where low I just had to adjust to my taste, I still have to find the perfect setting, on a nother thing I just bought a DVD player with HDMI outlet and man it is awsome, guys you should definitely have to check it out (assuming you dont already have one) thats the thing about being new I'm barely discovering all this, you guys probably already have it all.

I'll take some picks over the weekend and try to post them on monday, It will be great to see what you guys think.

For now I'm off to watch movies all weekend :D

I read you're review, I'm glad to know that the receiver is worth the $$, It was hard to decide which to get but so far I'm very satified with this one (I've only had it hooked up for 3 days) but now that I got the sub working it is sweet. Any recommendations as to what would be a really good movie to test out the system and maybe impress my friends with it

Thanks for the info
