I have finally broken the chains of the HT and audio addiction.

I sold my SVS subwoofer, Onkyo receiver and DVD player on craigslist but got no takers for my JBL speakers so Salvation Army picked them up this morning. I now have nothing but a TV and cable box.

Why?

So what drove this?

Surprised to see someone whose been thanked so many times, and so involved with over 6k posts, to just up and sell off. Are you cleaning house for the new system or somethign else?

Yep, it's just temporary. :)

I want new speakers and I need to upgrade to a receiver with HDMI so I just chucked it all. It may be another 6 months before I get to actually purchasing the upgrades though because I still have to re-do my tile floor in the house and picking tile is WAY harder than picking HT equipment.

What a relief. I was worried that you were gonna pull a Sratman and just disappear. You're one of a handful of 'go to' guys for certain things and loosing that resource would have bummed me out.

So, what's going to replace the SVS sub?

I don't know. This guy is like Adam. It might take a while. I know he knows what hurry means but he's certainly not in one.

Another one. I'll give you all a chance to laugh at me.

I originally bought the SB12-Plus in Rosenut and while the finish is beautiful I think it may be a little too red to go well with my furnishings and I should have bought the basic black and saved $50. That and the fact that I had a Boston Cherry sample from Axiom audio on the little half wall above the sub and bumped it so it came crashing down on the sub and left two little dents on the top.

Two perfectly good reasons to replace it. :) I might reconsider my idea that I don't want a huge 100 lb sub as well.

A 100 lb sub is rather excessive unless of course you get two.
It's all about balance. Happy shopping. :)

Whew! That first post had me worried. Glad that you're going to have a nice, new system...sometime in the summer of 2012. :D
