Home Theater Cleaning Question

Hey everyone.

I recently noticed that my home theater setup has accumulated quite a bit of dust and grime,
and I'm a bit hesitant about how to clean it without causing any damage.

I've got a projector, a big-screen TV, various speakers, and all the associated equipment, so it's a bit of a task.
What's your go-to method for cleaning your home theater equipment?

Are there any specific products or techniques you recommend to keep everything in top-notch condition?
I want to make sure I can enjoy the best possible audio and video quality without risking any harm to my gear.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I use a Swiffer and a micro-blower. Followed by a vacuum cleaner.

Never blow air into a projector - EVER.
I typically just dampen a paper towel and wipe down all surfaces to remove the layers of dust. I use proper LCD cleaner on the front of displays (as appropriate) and do NOT touch the lens of the projector if you can avoid it, but if you must clean it, then use photographic lens cleaners. Like the Nikon Lens Pen cleaning system.

I vacuum first. I have a dust brush that has natural bristle for the speakers. I vacuum first to keep any pet hair or lint that can get into the vent holes. Then I resort to dampened paper towels followed immediately with clean dry ones. I have my cables arranged to where I can shift the amps to one side of a tv stand, clean under it, shift it back to the opposite side to repeat where I couldn't get to the first time.

It can get dusty in here as I have indoor/outdoor pets and terrazzo floors and family is in and out a lot too. Using a HEPA filtered vacuum regularly for regular house cleaning will help keep things cleaner, as will a HEPA air purifier that is actually big enough for the room works wonders as well.

I bought a whole kit of natural bristle brushes made for the cosmetics trade for detail cleaning, along with some paint brushes for cleaning the back panel around all of the connections.

I clean all the time in here vacuuming and dusting one thing I'm glad I did is buy individual theater seats. This way I can tilt them up and vacuum underneath the chairs. With people eating snacks and popcorn and plus dust and other crud it could get nasty underneath their in no time

I wondered the same thing, perhaps kitchen / cooking residue ?

Regardless, once the Op gets everything cleaned up, keep it that way ! As said earlier, a Swiffer does wonders !

But swiffers are so wasteful....re-useable would be better. In any case this poster has been identified as one who slips spam into various posts, too....

Last year I bought two air purifiers, one for the living room where my A/V system is located, and one for the bedroom. It's unbelievable the difference in the air quality and how less often I have to remove dust from speaker enclosure and tables.

These air purifiers use the true HEPA H13 grade filters which will catch the tiniest forest smoke particles to protect me as well. Not many manufacturers use the H13 medical grade filters but Levoit is the one which I use and I'm very satisfied with their products. They also have am excellent customer service. Amazon carries their line of products.

Why won't you just hire a cleanning company, it's not so expensive.
