I need some help. I am in need of a new sub for my home audio/theater system. I am looking to not spend too much $, but willing to go upwards of $500 if I need to.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum, CJ!

What other gear do you have (speakers, in particular), and how big is the room in which you'll be using the sub?

I'm asking to help better determine the sub capability that you'll want.

The room is approx 18x20. Running an older Denon reciever (AVR 810), with plans to upgrade within the next year or two. Front speakers are JBL towers, center is a Polk Audio, and rears are Bose. Just mainly looking for something to give me good low freq whilst watching movies. Don't listen to too much music on the system.
Cheers

Svs

I just picked up an SVS PB12-NSD, and it's working out very well for me. I've got a slightly smaller room, and use it primarily for movies as well. I had to look around for it, and hop on it fast once it showed up used by a trusted source, but I paid $500 for it ($420 + shipping - it's a big 'un!)

If buying used (or waiting to find it ) is not your style, then you might consider the PB10-NSD ($429 + shipping new from SVS).

From what I've heard, the customer service at SVS is excellent, and not hard sell; I'd recommend calling them and asking for recmmendations.

Good luck!

Sub woofer discussions have taken place ad naseum here at AH. Before starting up another long thread it may be more efficient to use the forum search feature to discover already content rich threads where most likely your question is answered.

It will save you a lot of time. If you still don't see what you need then a new thread is always applicable. Welcome to AH.

*My intent is, sincerely, for you to find what you are looking for.

I would go with an SVS subwoofer, the best one I could afford. Here is their web site:

Either this or this should do the job for the price. There's also the DIY route if you are good with wood building etc...
