Hi all, I'm Thomas and I'm new here.
Currently I have a home music studio. I have a mixer that i put my guitar, bass, and computer in to. Right now the only output is the main out. It goes to a Pioneer SX-251R receiver that my dad had ages ago. From there it goes to two old Bose speakers. They are 210 Series III.
I also have a 15 watt peavey guitar amp and 15 watt peavy bass amp that are set up as aux sends in the mixer. They don't sound very good with the set up, so I am thinking of selling them

I have multiple questions:
1. Would selling the amps be a good idea?
2. Could I hook up another pair of speakers to that receiver? Such as something cheap like these? Pyle PCB4BK 4" 200 Watt Mini Cube Speaker Pair Black 310-2008 The Pioneer has two speaker channels by the way
3. My friend has this subwoofer and really likes it. What do you all think? Dayton SUB-100 10" 125 Watt Powered Subwoofer I would probably set it as an aux out.

Sorry for the long post, I am new to this kind of stuff. Let me know if you need any clarification. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you! :)

Never been a big fan of peavey equipment. I always preferred fender, marshall and Line 6 for good sound quality for instruments.

The pioneer receiver you have should be fine for 2ch use. I highly doubt the pyle speakers will be much better than the bose. I would look into the dayton B652's for a cheap good sounding solution...at under $40 they are hard to beat. I just bought the dayton 8" sub for my son and I'm fully impressed with it...in fact its hard to believe its only an 8" 80 watt sub.

I did some more digging and found a pair of Sony speakers on Amazon for $50. SS-B1000
my question is if they are 120 watts per speaker or 120 for the pair? and i am pretty sold on the Dayton my friend has

Welcome to the forum!

Like the others, I'm also not a fan of Peavy amps, and certainly not as part of a reproduction or monitoring system. I can't comment on those Pyle speakers, never heard 'em.

Rather than adding more speakers, perhaps consider simplifying things, and save up for a pair powered monitors which you can run directly from your mixer. In addition to keeping your studio clean and uncluttered, it would kick your sound quality up a notch or three.

No qualms with adding a Dayton sub. I used to use a pair of 8" Daytons in my office rig, and they were amazingly good for the cost.
