Home Studio Problem

Ok basically I'm well and truely baffled, here are the specs;

Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS (Soundcard)
Audio Technica AT4040 (Condensor Mic)
Phonic MM 1002 (mixer)

Now my Mic is a Phantom Power, but my Mixer has a switch to power it and did at first, the mic worked and I had volume. However after fiddling with my sound settings on my pc (as my audio recording program wasn't working right), my Mic no longer works for me.

When I plug into my Line In and Line Out, all I get is a brutally loud feedback in my headphones (which I didn't have at first), but my sound isn't making it to my pc... my Mixer shows volume is going into it from my mic, but nothing is showing on my pc... but I'm getting perfect sound FROM my pc to my mixer.

I just don't get what is wrong with it, when I don't use the Line Out, I can get a quiet sound from my mic... when I DO use the Line Out, no sound will record, just receive.

I even unplugged the Soundcard's Line In and stuck it in my Mic In port instead, this worked as the computer now received sound from my mic, BUT my mixer couldn't receive any at all!?

Anybody know whats wrong as I've been going back and forth for 8 hours and still can't get the pc to receive sound at the same time as my mixer receiving.

If you were fiddling with the audio settings and it no longer works, I would look there first. Did you happen to mute the mic input or have the record input set to the wrong input? If you are getting feedback, you have created a loop where the output is looped back to the input.

Can you describe exactly what is connected where?

Check the Record Source selection in the Audigy's software mixer. You might have acidentally set it to WhatUHear (or whatever they call it these days) instead of Line Input.

THANKS! You guys helped me spot something that I've not used before... basically the tiny box under Microphone was ticked (obviously selecting to record from) but my Mic is connected to my mixer in the Line In socket... so I needed the Analog level box ticked.

Everything is working now, thanks for the help guys, much appreciated!
