Hi all, I am a new user here.
I was an unlucky guy who got scammed into the Pro Audio/White van speaker sellers on the street but I am not here for that. I saw that I could build my own speakers so why not. I will use the big proaudio box and try to make something good with it.
I read a little bid and it does not look very expensive to biuld our own speakers. So I have some questions. I tried looking on google but it is not easy. Do you have any online store that you would recommend to buy the cross overs and good drivers to have a nice setting?
Do you have any good links to how to choose speaker components and internal wiring and how much stuffing to absorb noise inside the box? There is not much in my box so I could add more..

thanks a lot!

I was going to recommend the same two places Leprkon did.

Looking at the pictures of the white van speakers, the boxes sure are handsome. But are they well built? Knock on them like you'd knock on a front door; if they're solid and quiet, that's good. If they're hollow sounding and loud, that's bad.

Next, make sure they don't leak air at the joints. Hard to do, but usually you can shine a flashlight up against the joints and peek inside (after you remove the speakers) and see if any light comes through.

Even if the speaker boxes fail these tests, the game's not over. Leaky joints can be caulked from the inside and made airtight, and noisey cabinets can be dampened with added internal bracing and/or glued material inside like roofing material or dynamat.

You should be able to calculate the interior volume of the boxes by measuring the outside dimensions, then subtracting the thickness of the walls. Then when you go to pick the woofer(s), you'll know which ones will fit best in the airspace you have. If they're ported, the ports can be sealed, etc.

Good luck! When you're done, you'll have the best sounding Pro Audio speakers on the planet!

thanks a lot !

Thanks, the box look good, they are 5/8 of an inches of the press wood ( i am not sure if press od if the right term, it is wook that is in small piece and all glue back into a panel and they put a layer of fake wood finish on top, like Ikea furniture)

but I have two 7 1/4 inches holes, one 3.5 inch hole (tweeter) and a ventilation hole at the bottom. The box is 11.5 inches wide (front) by 9 inches deep and 36 inches tall.

I will see what I can do whith that!

Speaker design is much more complex than it appears. They will help you match drivers and a crossover for you boxes but the game isn't over. You may need to adjust the crossover. Some L pads might be a good idea also. You could buy very expensive drivers and crossover components and it still doesn't sound good. I assure you it may not cost alot but getting a high quality speaker from just putting together some drivers and a crossover in your own boxes may be a problem.
Madisound has a forum as does Partsexpress. Please go there and do some research. You can build great speakers that will perform far beyond your cost.

Thanks, I think I will enjoy doing the research and setting up a good speaker!
