My receiver sounds great but I was thinking of getting something newer to add features. I don't want to downgrade quality for a newer unit with more features. I'm going to be shopping for used equipment but I'm not sure where my current receiver stands compared to something less than 5 years old buy other brands. Interested in quality brands, not Box store consumer junk.

DTR 8.4 is 7 channels at 110 watts per channel.
I currently have a pair of towers. ( Salk HT-TL'2)
My Amp is AVA Fet Valve 400. 200 watts per channel.

I use the system for music and sometimes watching movies and shows.

A sub would allow me to free up some power to the towers by setting crossover. Also add bass, However I don't find my system missing bass.
A center and 2 speakers for surround sound sound would really add to the movie experience.

If your saying you dont have a sub, then that's the most logical addition

Looking to buy used Salk speakers? Good luck to you sir.
That said, the matching center for your towers would be Salk VERACITY HT2C.
No need to worry too much about surround/effect speakers. I'd go with cheap ones from NHT for example.
On 2nd hand receivers, I won't recommend anything less than HDMI 2.0 AND HDCP 2.2 or you'll be shooting yourself in the foot from (a near) future proof standpoint.
Lastly, a sub would help, not just with bass, but lower midbass clarity as well.
It doesn't have to brand match, but it should be sized to your room total air volume size and your desire for strong bass, limited by your budget.
Go to brands would be HSU, SVS, Rythmic and PSA.

I have salk full range speakers and at my MLP for music, and I added subs for a variety of reasons. Yours says HT, which mine doesn't fit that.

Same wait but I'd fathom to say Dennis's center would work.

Sound wise, yes, but then he still needs to order it in matching to Salk custom veneer and guess whom will be doing that :)

I have HT-TL2's. Not looking to buy towers. I got these used a few years back used from a guy in the Bay area.
Looking at a receiver used. But afer jamming out with my 4 year old just now, I'm leaning more towards a sub. :)

I was in a rush when I got speakers and receiver and speaker wire was thrown in for free. After getting sound to play, I added an amp because it was a great deal. I kind of stopped buying audio stuff after that. (Kids).

I researched sub a few times and I'v been too worried about not getting the best sub for my house. ( sound and price.) Leaning towards Rythmek. Maybe from Salk if I can find a good deal. Heck I may just break down and order one. :)

I aslo got lost on the power condition / filter rabbit hole. I know I need something but not sure about $XXXX for "clean power."

I bought salks subs for matching. I'm definitely overkill. Two rythmik subs in gloss would have done it. Dont get me wrong the Salks are brutal in weight and will sound awesome, I could gone the less expensive route and been fine.

Utter nonsense. Power conditioning. Does not affect audio in any share or form. If you have frequent brown-outs - get a ups

In conversation late last year, Jim told me he uses a Sealed Rythmik 15... I'm presuming he built his own cabinet. ;)
What is the room volume you're dealing with, and percentage HT to Music?
