Home Audio Setup Conundrum

I have spent the last few weeks trying to learn the basics and I have finally clarified with myself what my end goal is however it has left me unsure as to what will best accomplish this. The goal is to "fill the space" with audio/music & if I can do this while also having the capability of home theatre use then awesome. What I mean by this is....
  • I listen to music 8+ hours a day, but not ever sitting directly in front of the speakers for a prolong period of time.
  • I work from my desk and around the apartment so I am constantly moving around.
  • I also am a cinephile so I do watch a lot of movies so having home theatre capability and use is a "nice to have" but music throughout my living space is most important.
  • I currently live in 800sq/ft rectangle apartment -- floorplan is shown below -- but this wont be forever just for the next 8-12 months and then onto something bigger.
  • I already purchased the following prior to having this moment of clarity for my end goal but everything is returnable.
    1. RSL Speedwoofer & wireless adaptor
    2. Onkyo TX-NR6050 - got open-box for $350
    3. Heco Aurora 700 Floor Standing Speakers/pair - I got on sale for $800 tax + shipping included and these normally would be $1200-$1400 & have impressive specs
  • So this leaves me with my inner conundrum of what should I do?
    • Thought #1: Do I keep what I ordered and hope it is enough flood the apartment with audio? I know the RSL will provide enough I could always add on a center channel and additional speakers down the road but out of the budget ATM. I know the RSL would be plenty.
    • Thought #2: Return the Hecos & buy Jamo S 809 Floor Standers, Jamo S 83 Center Channel, Jamo S 809 Bookshelf Speakers for the Rear, & keep the Speedwoofer & Onkyo?
    • Thought #3: Return the Hecos & buy the SVS Prime Satellite 5.0 System & use the Speedwoofer? - I could place the 5 identical speakers throughout the apartment but this would not allow use for home theatre.
    • Thought #4: Same as above except also return the Speedwoofer and buy the SVS Prime Satellite 5.1 System which includes the SVS 1000 Pro?
    • Thought #5: Return the Hecos & do the Jamo route, plus 2 additional Bookshelf speakers and put them in their own Zone on the Receiver?
    • Thought #6: I have also considered the Fluance Reference & Signature series as options
    • I am not limited to these options but this is where I am at currently.
    • I should add my budget on speakers right now is $800ish (not including subwoofer since I already purchased the RSL)

Just letting you know...
I listen to headphones.

Look, a great surround sound setup is fantastic for movies, but your listening seems to indicate that you may be far better off with some decent wireless headphones that are comfortable to wear for hours at a time and will pipe music to your head directly without disturbing the neighbors by you blasting it in your apartment all day, and also give you an optimal stereo setup for listening.

From there, setup your speakers for surround sound as appropriate to your budget and tastes.

But, no question, I would do headphones if I was wandering around wishing for 'good stereo audio' all day long.

I'm sort of in the same place as @BMXTRIX for you. The gear you've bought is fine (especially at those price points) and as you are in an Apartment, I can't see turning the volume up in your living room space loud enough that it wouldn't bother the neighbors causing all some grief no matter how many more speakers are added. I'd keep the gear and run it a 2.1 with the Speedwoofer in that area. Save building the full HT setup for the next place. Even though I have numerous HT systems, I listen to wireless headphones a lot just for background tunes while I work (both inside the house, in the garage, and outside too).

However, I understand some folks can't tolerate headphones on, or in, their ears for long periods. (I too need a break after a few hours.) So for your work desk, have you considered some wireless speakers you could use near field while you work? You could go to Bluetooth as your NR6050 will broadcast to them, or use some with their own transmitter connected to the Zone 2 outputs on the NR6050. I have a cheap pair with a small sub in our dining room just for background music via Spotify when entertaining (or wrapping Christmas presents!). Everybody loves them.

Just a thought...

I hope this is helpful.

yeah good plan !
Yeah I think as I tried and failed to do, some people want to fit surround sound in a bad space for it . 2.1 or 3.1 is plenty for most people op just wants to use every channel he can on his amplifier??
surrounds are a no go in my set up, I tried infront they work decent but imo2.1 or 3.1 is best!
