Home audio central wiring- I am confused.

Earlier I have told the electrician to run pair of speakers to every room (8 locations). Then they are connected to 14/4 volume control mounted (impedance) in every room. All the 14/4 wires goes to central wiring closet.

Later, I have decided to install one speaker per room instead of 2. Now I mounted single speakers in all rooms execept for 2 locations. So I do not have pairs any more. Now, I have a total of 8 bundles of 14/4 coming to the central closet. Of which only two may have 4 live and the others have only 2 live.

Now I am trying to connect them to my speaker selector which is hooked to the power amp. I am getting no output whatsoever. The speakers are not doing any thing at all. What did I do wrong? Do I need to have the Voulme control installed in all wall locations for this thing to power?

Please help.

Thanks

Mike

Not necessarily. Assuming you have the box & wallplate in place, you could just splice the wires together using wirenuts until you purchase the VCs.
