Holy Price Jump Batman!

I'd been thinking about adding a cylinder sub (PC12+) to one of my rooms and surfed over to SVS. It looks like they've refreshed their lineup but raised the price on the NSD line $100 and boosted the PC12-Plus $400. They went to DSP amps for their new lineup and I guess they cost more. The $699 PC12-NSD kept the same 325w power rating. The $1400 (on sale for $1250) PC12-Plus gets another 300w bringing it up to 800w. Too rich for my blood. I guess my subwoofer plans have now changed and I'll live with what I have. Hopefully they'll eventually add back a mid priced sub into their lineup someday.

Since you live in hemet I would suggest taking a drive down the 91 west and check out what HSU has to offer. They have a little theater not too far from you to demo their subs which are cheaper.

Thanks. I used to live a few blocks away from them. The place that I have in mind is just big enough for a cylinder.

Hey Sholl are the DSP amps better than Bash in terms of quailty?

Not the way I wanted to start my first post here, but I have a 2039CS-Plus for sale with a Samson S1000 amp if you are interested.

I have no idea. I'm still trying to figure out what the DSP does.
They have limiters and filters set to the ragged edge and then left just inside of idiot proof, all stuff impossible with the BASH.

Not the first ones with LCD displays, but they are the first ones to fully implement full blown pro-level power and DSP tuning on the consumer marketplace as far as I know.

If I undestand correctly and I usually don't:eek:, they didn't expect to see the huge gain in performance that they are seeing. They were shooting more for increased reliability and were somewhat socked on how big of a performance upgrade the new amps delivered. Maybe the new power hit the sweet spot of their drivers?????

I will let you know...:D

I see the Plus has the LCD but I didn't see one on the NSD. Which did you order? For what size room?

I have 2 PB13U's but I am adding the new amps.

My room is like 15 billion cubic feet...

SVS makes great products and has some of the best service BUT they are slowly changing their brand to a luxury ID brand. They've earned it over the years but the your guns on the market are really pressing the value return higher and higher and making it harder to chose SVS IMO.

Their prices are going up, but so is the value. Their subs are getting better, and they are now using higher quality amps and drivers then they did years ago, plus the cost of the materials keeps going up, so they have to respond, or they will go out of business. It's not like they are asking more than the products are worth, and you still get some of the best customer service in the industry, but it does suck that it's not the bargian that it used to be.

I'm not even looking for bargins and I chose their subs. They do perform, great looking and CS is top notch.

I know this is not the end of the line for you in regards to new and improved LF but could this possibly be the end of DIY for you?

I think I am maxed out in this room. After watching Warp throw 20k on the low end, on a similar sized room, I give up. It is what it is.

All that being said, it sounds pretty darn good in here.

I want to figure out how to do a hidden PJ next.

I loved my pb13 Ultra. If I had kept it I would have not gotten into a 1+ year upgrade mess that has lost me over 3000.

Great subs, honestly selling it was a mistake - not from a performance level by just overall it was great, easy to own ect. My current JTR sub beats it in many ways but what it took to get here with all the drama in between was not worth it

I have to step in here as I meant to before and discussed this with the DAWG on the phone the other day... I DID NOT drop $20k on my latest sub arrangement. I have roughly about $12K invested in this for my new accoutrement's. Thats $4k for each box with drivers and amps... If you want to truly break that down - lets take a look at other sealed sub comparisons...

A single JL Audio Gotham at likely the best price avail costs about $6k - a pair will run you $12K.... Each one of my DIY subs in terms of displacement/output will dish out at least the same or better as both of the Gothams combined stacked as a single source point.

My point being - many people have bought these gotham's and more power to them - they are beautiful works of art - but there is more then one way to skin a cat and I took the more difficult road to designing and implementing a far superior method for a fraction of the cost... ;)

But they are not plug and play:D that alone is another 6k. Kidding aside you got the best of both worlds, beautiful cabinets and great drivers combined with a powerful eq-crossover, who wouldn't be jealous. :)
