I am looking for a 2 channel receiver that will power my Swans 4.2 towers and also have the ability to run an outdoor pair of speakers. I was originally convinced to go with a surround sound receiver that would offer powered multiroom speaker terminals. I am finding that I am paying a ton of extra money for options I will not use and sacrifice my amp power output.

Right now I between the HK 3490 or Onkyo TX-8555. The HK I can get for about $280 and the Onkyo for $180. Both are very similar in options from what I have read.

HK has A/B channels rated for 120 W/channel
Onkyo has A/B channels rated for 100 W/channel

Does anybody own these and have any suggestions? I think that the HK is worth the extra $100 but not sure.

Other suggestions are welcome. I really do not want to spend more than $350 if possible. There are jsut not many good options in the 2 channels receiver front these days.

Thanks

Jeff

HK's power is always under rated, the Onkyo-who knows.
I'd use the HK, never much liked Onkyo.
