HK AVR-335 won't come out of stand-by mode - help

Folks:

I bought a Harman Kardon AVR-335 from the ebay harman audio store.

Arrived today and I unboxed it. It turned on for about 35 minutes and then went off. It is now in standy mode and attempting to turn it on with the remote, manual switch and using the "reset" feature won't bring it out of standby.

I'm a bit disappointed since I really haven't read of anyone having problems with HK refurbs, but it seems as if this one is going back.

If I'm missing something on some other trick please advise --

I may go with an Onkyo TX-SR674 as a replacement for this one.

HK has the most number of reported problems of ANY manufacturer.

Take it with a grain of salt because I am a fan of Onkyo receivers (and NEVER had one single problem with half a dozen of them!) but IMO, the TX-SR674 would be a much better choice.

On top of MDS' input, HK is overblown with its high current claims and people buy into that to quickly. HK is overrated. On top of the other issues, like yours, a different fork in the road is advised:D

Sounds like the protection circuit has kicked in. Assuming it is not a manufacturing issue you may have a speaker wire short. The short can occur at the binding posts and anywhere along the length of wire. Do check these before you go out and buy a different receiver.

Apparently no one has. Have you called HK with this issue?
