HK AVR 235 popping sound

I am a novice. Just set up my HK AVR 235 and I have a popping sound coming from the speakers with no input on. I am lost. Any suggestions? Thanks......

POP goes the receiver!

describe the popping sound? It could be coming from your source also. Maybe a loose wire on an interconnect? Could be spikes on the AC line.

I have a 235 also and havent noticed this.

Do you by chance have a cell telephone nearby operating or charging?
There were several posts recently about them causing sub problems. Maybe your HK is also picking up stuff?
