HK AVR 146 only putting out audio over 6ch direct

Hey guys, I've recently started setting up a small home office and wanted to run a simple receiver with just two bookshelf speakers for my computer and a couple other sources (a game console and a turntable with line level outputs). Before I go and buy a basic receiver, I figured I'd try to troubleshoot this Harman Kardon AVR 146 that died on me a few years ago.

Basically, my roommate in college threw a party and it got run at very high volume for too long. It stopped putting out any audio whatsoever (or so I thought) shortly afterwards. Probably within about 3 days -- soon enough that I assumed being run too high was the cause, but I can't say that definitively.

It boots up fine, the screen and menus are responsive, and it seems to detect inputs correctly. But the only thing I get out of the speakers are faint clicks as I adjust the volume knob. This is via analog, optical and digital coax. Plugging it in yesterday, I discovered that if I plug a source in via '6 channel direct', it plays just fine. I was ready to just write it off as a loss but now...maybe there's some life left in it?

Does anyone have a guess at what the problem is? I opened it up and don't see any obviously bad capacitors. I found this YouTube video showing an HK AVR 340 with the same issue: Harman Kardon AVR 340 *test Repair p1* - YouTube but no solution.

I'm not afraid to take it apart and do a little soldering, but if it's a major repair then...well...I was already kind of prepared to buy a new receiver, so no big loss. Any ideas?

Honestly, I'd start looking at new receivers.
