HK 630 having shutoff issues

Hi all,
I just recieved my AVR-630 from the Ebay Haran store and it works great except for one little thing - I conected my cable box to the component 1 video and the coaxial 1 audio, when I start the reciever it will play for in the area of 5 minutes without issue, then it will power itself off (light goes from blue to amber). You can power it right back on, but around 5 minutes later it goes back to powered off. Now if I switch to DVD with is Component 2 and optical 1 and watch a dvd, it works great no issues with power-off, also if I use it for my xbox audio (optical 2) it works fine for hours. If you then switch back to cable it seems to work fine, just when you start it on cable (video 4 input).

Any thoughts? I'll try to contact H/K today.

Man that is wierd. What if you start out with another input? does it still do it?

I'll double chaeck and play with it some more, but I think if I started with the DVD or xbox it would be fine. I'll keep testing it.

Problem Solved - I called Harman/Kardon Tech support and explained the issue and he stated that it sounded like the reciever was flawed and it would be replaced - So they sent me an email containg a UP shipping label so I don't have to pay anything, then he told me they had no more 630's they could give me so he upgraded me to the AVR-635 - I'm so happy I chose H/K in part due to their great support.

normally, having a receiver that has a factory defect makes you unlucky. but being given a better unit makes you very lucky!

congratulations! did you buy your speakers from harman too?

No, I purchased my speakers from the local Paradigm dealer - but I see your point
