hey all,

how important is it for a sub to hit 20Hz at +/- 3db tolerances? i mostly listen to music with the odd movie thrown in here or there.

im eyeing the Martin Logan 1000w as its from a reputable brand, looks great and seems well designed, but sadly it only goes down to 22Hz. should i fret over those 2Hz?

im also eyeing the Focal 1000 F for more or less the same reasons, but it does even worse, as it only goes down to 24Hz

For music, 20 Hz isn't important unless you are into pipe organ music or certain kinds of electronic music, so basically niche stuff.

Chasing 20 hz or sub 20hz is more a movie thing for me by far, but I do listen to some "subwoofer candy" music like shadyj's thread calls it.

FWIW ML and Focal may be well known speaker companies, but for subs not so much. I'd look at products from a sub specialist like SVS, Hsu, Power Sound Audio, Rythmik, etc. The Dynamo 1000 if you get a significant discount could be alright, though I'd sure like to see some third party measurements first.
