Hitachi, Samsung...

I'm looking for a 50" LCD or DLP TV. I've liked what I've seen in Hitachi, Samsung, & surprisingly Panasonic but I haven't found any current reviews that I feel comfortable with. I'm not stuck on these brands, I'd just want a good consistent picture. I'll be using a Directv HD/DVR with it. I'd love any input you have to offer & also info. on the best sites for reliable reviews.

Thanks'
Linc

From what i have seen, the panasonic 50" dlp is the nicest looking rptv out there. Haven't seen the sony listed above though, but have compared all the hitachi, samsung, toshiba lcd' and dlp's, and a couple sony's.

Resolution would be 720p or 1080p.

Thanks for the info.

depending on your preference for form factor, I still recommend the Samsung 5085W (50" pedastal dlp). Abes of Maine has them for $1899. (was $3500 until the 1080p sets came out). I've had one for 6 months now, and the picture is excellent.

A friend of mine also has one of the panasonic DLP tvs, and it is very good as well. I'm personally not a fan of the LCD RP tvs...they seem way too bright to me in a dark room, but if that doesn't bother you, I'd say that the panny LCD RPTVs are quite good as well. I've always had excellent luck with panny video products.
