Hissing: 3rd verse same as the 1st

Before anyone blasts me I have read all the relevant posts I can find on hissing problems. None of them really seem to apply.

I have a Denon 1804 with a Wharfedale Evo package. Oddly enough, one of the things I have really enjoyed my about my system is the ability to have a dead calm in the middle of a movie soundtrack. Going from ambient room noise to my preferred listen level in a split second really adds impact to a scene. Unfortunately, last night I heard, for the first time, a hiss coming from all five speakers. I assume that means it is coming from my amp. The noise was before I turned on any other components and it was present during DVD playback. I fumbled with the wires a bit and it was not as pronounced.

Unless my wife has adjusted my settings or my cat has loosened some wires (he attacks only the most expensive things in our house) nothing has changed. Any ideas?

Sounds like some type of interference. Unhook your dvd player, monitor, and speaker terminals, then re-hook everything back up. Also, if it's not too much trouble, reset the receiver to the factory settings. See if you get the hiss. If not, tailor it the way you had it. If so, it may be internal. You can email Denon if all else fails at contactproducthelp@denonnj.com

try hooking them back in one at a time to see if it's related to a specific piece.
