"High" end AV vs stereo receiver

Hi, Do you think a yamaha aventage with all it's (to me totally useless) fancy video wizardry still has a solid musical performance, compared to a straight stereo receiver?
I just want a receiver for stereo play, but one that has usb stick functionality, and crossover control. Hard to find in a straight stereo unit. Only the rn803 has both, but I distinctly dislike the idea of having to use an app to do the bass control (double checking whether that's doable from the remote, but I don't think so.)

Have you looked at the Outlaw 2160 for $799? It has both X-over bass management and/or usb functionality. Not to mention a very robust amp section. Here is a link:

Unequivocally yes. Absolutely no doubt in my mind.

I've heard just about every type of component ever made - high-end analog preamp, tube preamp, pre-pro, AVR, stereo receiver, integrated amp.

The biggest difference among these electronics is the EQ software. When bypassed (Straight/Pure Direct modes), they measure extremely linear and accurate and they sound like it too.
