how do you guys hide wires along the wall for your home theatres? i have my rear speakers mounted and am not going to spend the extra $$ to go wireless on them so i need a nice clean way of hiding the wires. i live in military base housing so i cant get all fancy and drill into the ceiling etc etc to run wires. was thinking staples but want it cleaner. any pics would be greatly appreciated. thanks

This may be too much of a modification for military housing restrictions, but what I did was I yanked my baseboards. I simply cut away about an inch or so of the drywall, tucked my wires in the gap, and reinstalled the baseboard. It was super clean.

Thinking about it, I've also seen at Home Depot larger size quarter round that's hollow. I can't say that I've paid much attention to it, but I did see it awhile back. That may works as well.

If you don't want to go with a wire track type solution like the link above, a simple approach would be to use the 3M command adhesive wire hooks. They come off cleanly without damaging the wall so could be removed easily when you move. The wire would still be visible but if it is at the bottom of the wall along the baseboards you won't really notice it.

Used the system before

I have used that system twice before. In my previous house, and in my travel trailer. In both instances, everyone who has seen it says that it looks very clean and a nice way to hide the wires.

In fact, in the trailer, it actually looks like it was installed by the factory for the surround sound. I think you will be very happy with doing it that way as you can stick them to the baseboard so no one will notice. Plus, where it is fairly inexpensive, you don't mind leaving it behind for the next person.

I will try and get pics soon to show you.

Where R U Stationed

I live in Base Housing in Okinawa and have for 7 of my 9 years here. Here you can buy the conduit by the meter at any off base hardware store for $0.90 - $3.00 per Meter depending on size and if there is double sided tape pre attached. I have used this stuff for years and swear by it. It usually comes off cleanly. Just be careful with the tape you use, if that is your intention. My first time I used industrial strength tape which pulled off paint when I took it down. Sorry I don't have pictures, but it almost looks like a piece of crown molding when run at the top of walls.

Here is a link to a company I've used for many years.

I used a product very similar to this from Home Depot in an apartment. I ran it on the wall right next to the ceiling. Every place I put a screw, I had a 1/4" shim to create a gap. That way it followed the ceiling perfectly and when the cover snapped on an 1/8" reveal remained. The line created by that is very even and your eye never goes to it. People would see speakers hanging and would ask how I ran the wires from the entertainment center even though the molding was right in front of them. If the job is slpoppy and the reveal is uneven, your eye goes right to it.

When I moved I pulled it all down and patched the holes with some other stuff from Home Depot. They were going to paint the place anyway so all was well. I like the two face tape idea but I've seen it fall off and I've seen it pull the paper off the drywall. Go figure. I'd rather patch some screw holes.

The following link shows a picture on how I hid my speaker wires for my surround speakers:

As mentioned by another, I bought this wire conduit at Home Depot. It's easy to install (has an adhesive tape on the back) and relatively cheap. I don't know how hard it is to take down however when you move.
