Good morning everyone! New here and interested in doing research on 4k upgrades. Will read a lot and start from there. Thanks everyone!

4K is a tricky slope to go down depending on what you are looking to do. Just hooking a TV up to a UHD Blu-ray Disc player and Roku Ultra is pretty easy though.

At the end though, once it's working it will look very good and within a proper surround setup can be part of an amazing setup.

My current setup is a Yamaha Rx-v1800 a/v receiver and Klipsch RF-82 front towers, RC-62 center, RS52 rear, and RSW-10. Just bought a Sony 75" 900F as well. The bottom line is I'm tossing around the idea of using separates instead of all-in-one receiver. Looking at either Marantz MM8077 7-ch 150 watts or ATI AT525NC 5-channel Amplifier (200W RMS per channel). I seem to like the Marantz AV7705 as a processor from the research I've already done. Any thoughts on these amps combined with the processor? I'm reading that audio quality is better with separates for many reasons but wasn't opposed to a really good A/V receiver. Just wanted to get true 4k pass thru and upgrade a bit while doing it. Not really in the market for all new speakers as well. That's all

How do you like the TV? What did you have before it? I've wanted to get some more user feedback of the quality of that TV, especially with normal TV viewing. I have a client with a plasma that is looking for something different/larger and I'm leaning towards the 85" 900 model.

For audio, I don't get much involved with it as I think opinions are all over the place. A good A/V receiver has good amplification in it. A good set of separates won't necessarily sound better, but will offer future growth and a good amp is typically a good amp for years and decades to come. I've never craved more power than what my current receiver puts out, so I don't think much about it.

I do think that if your room can support it, adding speakers for Atmos may be a good way to go. Especially if you are a movie buff.

I appreciate the feedback. It's not a huge living room but has a lot of open space for sound to escape, that's all. As far as the Sony 900F goes, I had a 2006 60" Sony XBR 1080i rear projection so it was a huge upgrade for me. That screen was just starting to get dark and colors weren't popping like the new stuff these days. It was time. Normal viewing is as nice as it can be with Dish Network's broadcasting. I'm a hockey fan and wasn't blown away when watching games besides when the camera zooms in on certain plays but when the view is expanded all the way out, I'm not impressed by slight pixels on the players and still not being able to rear the jersey names until the zoom in. Normal shows are MUCH better than my old Sony. Video games are VERY impressive being they try to upscale on the xBox One (not their 4k model) and PS4 is real nice too. I've only streamed 4k from youtube and it's beautiful! Hope this helps my friend.
