I wouldn't pay $500 for it when it was new. But for $100 bucks I don't see how you could go wrong. If you don't like the way it sounds when you get it. Just e-bay it, and you'll make money.

Let us know what you think of them.

The only thing I am worried about is it Not being Powerful enough??

The TV room or I should say the Speaker Zone is 14 by 15 ft. SO??

I will post here after purchase but if anybody has ever owned this bundle or know anything great about it PLEASE fill me in. :)

THANKS

I think the question you need to ask is what type of system do you want to end up with, then pursue building that system. Chasing after bargains or other people's cast-offs is unlikely to give you the system of your dreams. I've got a couple of spare 5 speaker sets from chasing a bargain that just didn't work out. Do you really want to go that way?

I know, I know......

Well I do need FOR SURE, new front left and right AND Center speakers.

My current set up is now NOT working well with the new Receiver SO I want something to at least work well for the journey forward. I was just hoping this set up would. I do want to make my home theater where people think they are at the movies and the sounds from the movie are All around them.

I am most definitely a beginner.

I THINK this YAMAHA bundle I am looking at will help me enjoy my new TV and New FIRST Receiver for a bit. Well I'm hoping??

This is a good start. Now let's get you there.

For starters, that 50w Yamaha sub isn't going to do diddly to get you to that goal. For a budget, the BIC subs have had a few good reviews lately, or the DIY subs for under $200.

Athena also makes some very good, affordable entry level speakers that give you a good upgrade path through the Energy line-up.

What is your potential budget for nice 5.1 system?

To answer your question: NO, DON"T BUY THEM.
Look at it this way - right now you have some not very good speakers & $100. If you buy these speakers you'll still have not very good speakers & 100 less dollars.

Your sig lists a display & receiver in the $2,500 range - it seems odd that you are shopping $100 speaker systems

True? :D

I'm just CRAZY thoe and need better discipline!!! Sorry, please bare with me.

I did buy those speakers. But they all sound good except for the Sub? Down right Wimpy!! I didn't buy the speakers for the sub thoe I mainly spent $100 for the Center and Fronts. I want to get a VERY powerful sub (for up front) and one wimpy but good sub for Behind the seating, to give that well rounded rumble yet modest.

Could someone please Tell me what I am supposed to do with the hooking up of this new sub? The back show's Left and Right input? Is this just showing it's age? :(

I went to Radio Shack and got an adapter and a 16ft Sub Woofer cable....

Please look at the picture and tell me the best way to hook this thing up.

Try not to focus on what you have that's not good enough for you. What speakers have you listened to that you like? Is your total speaker budget $100 or what? How can anybody help you if you don't give us a clue? So far all we know is that you want is a theater quality 7.1 system for $100.

Well after I hook up the 5 speakers I just purchased I am then going to hook up my 4 PIONEER Surround sound speakers.

The YAMAHA Receiver I just got has an Extra spot for front speakers and that spot is for extra assistance for sound effects that the front left and right already do but it's a chance to angle the extra front a little different or even spread the front sound out a little more. That extra spot is only good for 20Watts I think tho? That may not even power the speakers?? THAT is what I am concerned about right now. Right now I'm stripping wires and hooking things up so I will be back and forth. Want to be done before the BIG game tonight on TV!!! :D

kind of confused by your last post, maybe i read it wrong. your receiver is 7.1 which allows for 4 surrounds. your extra front channels on your receiver are presence channels if you wanted to wire speakers to another room, it is not for adding two more speakers to your already existing fronts. I got confused when you said "now that i hooked up my new 5 speakers i am now going to hook up my 4 pioneer speakers" (a total of 9 channels???? hopefully the extra 2 channels are presence). If anything it would make sense to run center front L & R with your new yamaha then surrounds with pioneer. you can take your other two left over yamaha and run them in zone 2 as presence speakers.

I believe that presence channels on the yamaha recievers are optionally used instead of surround backs, above the right and left front channels... a zone 2 would be or a diferent room. in response to your post about how to hook up the sub, unless i missed someone else's reply, is that that sub was created before/to go with a reciever that had no lfe output, so. a person would get a set or rca's and come from the left and right front channels, to the input 2's or route your front speaker wires through the in and outs of the sub, before they go to the speakers. this way you can't control the crossover and level from the reciever, but if you are just runing your lfe output to the sub, you definitely arn' tgetting what the sub can do.

in other news... did you say you were hooking another sub up in the other corner of the room? What did you end up getting?

good luck!

-Parker.

The extra spot is working with the left an right very well. You can use that spot for other rooms as well. It's enabling me to not have to crank up the stereo too high to achieve perfect volume, When I have the MAIN Left an Right speakers running along side the Extra Left and Right speakers. Throw in the Center of course and GREAT set up.

Thanks for chatten everybody!!

I aimed the extra space speakers in slightly different directions. I am going to take a Picture to show what I'm talking about. :D

Hey man!! :)

Ya I went to Radio Shack and purchased an adapter for only the SUB side of the connection. So One Female and two males, :D:p heheheee

BUT, it works much better now. It's getting two Receiver sent sub woofer signals I figure and works.

Yes, I am planning on two subs for my home theater, one on either side of the room. I purchased a splitter for that too, comes JUST off the receiver in to a Y, well upside down Y. :p So far I have one woofer and alone it does Awesome at MID LEVEL Power. So I think I will get another one that's the same Size maybe one to two inch bigger???
