Music or movies?

If you are working on your car, are you really going to watch movies?

If you went with a full-size system, would you really be able to fit it in your garage? Besides the DVD player and the B&Ws, you are going to need some sort of receiver wo provide amplification. To complement the NAD and B&W matchup, you are talking about another $400 piece of equipment that may not be suited for a garage environment. I am picturing a 2-3-car deal like in most people's homes. Do you work at a garage? If so, maybe the full-size will work for you.

Or, you may want to consider a HTIB to get some level of quality without breaking the bank. Onkyo, Yamaha, and Denon have systems that will work relatively well and give you a 6.1 surround field.

If you are more interested in Audio, try the executive systems from onkyo (MC35TECH) and Denon (D-M50S/D-M33S). I have checked out both of them and they sound excellent given the 5-600 dollar price point, separate components, and adequate D/A converters. Note: the Denon is about $700 if you want the components to be separate.

Also, think about the following considerations: How big is your garage? Do you intend to use a subwoofer? Will the main doors be open? What kind of music are we talking about? How dirty might this system get? Can you keep it out of the way of tools and debris? For such a small TV, can you mount it on a wall-shelf unit to help keep it out of the way?

It sounds like you have a lot of options. Most importantly: What is your overall budget? $2-300 may severely limit you if you want the NAD and B&W combo (Remember receiver, cables, and cost of TV - do you already have the TV?)

What are you looking at for you total budget? You might want to check out this option:

For $1000, you get a nice tube amp, and a great set of speakers that look pretty. Add to that a nice universal player, like the Pioneer DV-578AS (like $115 shipped from Tiger Direct), and some nice looking cables, you've got yourself around $1200 out the door. Very nice looking, good sounding, and vintage looking (to go with your classic car!). Rob Babcock recently purchased the integrated/speaker combo I linked above, you might want to ask him what he thought. I remember he really liked the amp.

hi guys sorry if i want so clear, my garage is quite large I have a big collection of classic cars, 1968 Lotus 7, 1980 Lamborghini Countach, 1975 Ferrari 365/GTB4, and my latest project a 1970 Ferrari Dino, which I am currently restoring the alloys on. The garage also holds my wife's Porsche Boxster, my Mercedes CLS and Maserati 3200GT from a few years ago, it also has an oil pit, so i can work under the cars. So it's quite large, however in the corner I have a small seating area made of some old car seats like in the show top gear, this is where i sit down to work on the wheels etc, and I have a rack that is currently empty, so this is the idea of adding a small AV system came from.

I was just attepting 2 channel hence the NAD C320, I already own the B&W 602, they are spares from my main AV system in the house, so I was going to add a small amp to them and a good quality dvd player. so you guys think i should get a s/h av amp, would this run 2 channel? i don't really want to be buying more speakers just yet, but could do in the future. I am also a fan of the Arcam AVR200, this could make a sensible s/h buy. But I am still in the dilemma as to what dvd layer to buy? The system would be completely covered and the garage is the most secure place in the house because of it's many occupants. I aready own the TV, it's ace and has been resident in our spare room collecting dust for a few months now.

I only want to spend around $200-225 on a DVD player, as my home system is quite special anyway,
2-channel:
Naim NAC202
Naim Nap 200
Ruark Epilogue II
Naim CDX2
Naim Hi-Cap
Black Rhobidium Inter-connects
Denon 260 Mk2 Tuner

AV:
Arcam AVR300
Arcam DVD88
B&W 603 S3
B&W 602.5 S3 x2
B&W 602
B&W LCR600
B&W ASW 675

Any more info plz ask, i realy just want advice on a $200 dvd player
