So i bought a onkyo ht-r590 and i'm pleased with it but i was messing around with it last night, trying to get some movies to play from my ps3 and I was hitting stereo mode, mono etc and now i cant get it back to the default 7.1 surround mode, any ideas? thanks!!

It's easier for me to show you than try to explain it in words :)

Here's the HT-R590 manual

Go to page 27. That has the explanation and pictures of your remote that should solve the issue for you :)

Welcome to the forum!

I was reading through the manual to help solve your problem, and FR just posted it for you. :)

Oh, well. I'll throw this in anyway :D...try the "Movie" listening mode button. I'm guessing it should cycle through the multi-channel listening modes.

If you're watching movies with AAC soundtracks, those particular movie files are almost certainly only 2-channel stereo just in terms of the audio that is actually present in that movie file.

If you want to listen to 2-channel stereo recordings using all 5 or 7 speakers and your subwoofer, you need to use the Dolby Pro Logic IIx listening mode. So press the "receiver" button on your Onkyo remote to make sure it is controlling the receiver, then press the "TV/Movie" button (it should be the leftmost button in that row) until you get DPL IIx as the listening mode.
