Help!

Hi i have a Jbl powerbass pb10 its a lil old but works. but recently when i tried hooking it up to my stereo at school its make this weird nosie and like a buzzing and thumping nosie (like a rlly bad radio signal) and this happens when its only plugged into the outlet..its not connect to the stereo whats so ever. does anyone have any ideas why this is happening and what i could do to get it working again

If the problem occurs by simply plugging it into an outlet, the amplifier is the culprit. What the problem could be I don't know. However, if that is the case, it needs service.
