Hi all. New to the forum. I thought I'd ask some advice on this one.

I've got a room in my (soon to be constructed) basement that is shaped like this:

----------->
/ |
Door /__ |
/ |
| | 12'8"
| |
| |
| |
<--------------->
14'6"

What in god's name can I do with it? The wall at the top is structural. The ceilings will be about 8 feet, depending on what the contractor does. The other walls (with the measurements marked are the existing structural walls.

I was debating using it as a pool room, but I have a longer room at the other side of that wall (31x12) but I wanted to make that into the bar/pool table/drums and rock n roll room.... :)

Any thoughts? Much appreciated.

Well, if the angled wall in the back isn't too much (hard to tell with the ASCII limiatations...) it would make a nice smaller home theater or 2 channel listening room. Speakers on the right wall of the drawing firing down the 14+ foot length.

Hi brian, thanks for the response.

I was thinking after, I can square that room off, if I replace that angled load-bearing wall with a beam, and put a non-structural wall with a door in. So, the ceiling will be the thickness of the beam lower in that little triangle. Do you think that will cause problems? I know it's not optimal, but it'll work with the space I have.

Oh, I should have mentioned the measurements there are feet, not meters. So that beam is going to be about 6-8 feet long.

Sure - that will work fine and give you a bit more space to work with. If you can keep the door a bit away, it also gives you another corner to play with for bottom end control.
