Undo all the speakers on the back and see if it still shuts off. If not, check all your speaker connections carefully, you have a short someplace.

Thanks. I wasn't sure, I thought it may be. Now, with absolutely nothing connected, it shuts off after a few seconds? If so, you have internal issues of a short.
Is this a new component? New problem? Called Kenwood on it?

i just got this off a friend and he said that it was doing this for awhile. I first thought that it was short in his connection to the speakers but with no speakers attach i have no idea what it is. I tryed to see if i could see a short inside but i couldn't see it

By the way, did you by chance use a magnifier to look inside, perhaps by the speaker terminals on the inside?
If you don't see anything, there are deeper places for a short and that I cannot help you with.

Now, the question is is it worth persuing the repair or it might be too expensive and find another one.

I got rid of it my friend had two receivers and he is getting rid of both. the kenwood was bad so i didn't get to look it the next one. the kenwood had no problems i could see i took it totaly apart and looked at every part. So i threw it away.
