Help with Yamaha RX-V661 Zone 2 Volume

Hello all. Wondering if someone can help me out. The zone 2 outputs of my Yamaha recceiver is connected to an Onkyo M-282 amp, which is connected to a Rotel selector driving 3 additional pairs of speakers. My problem is that when I change the zone 2 volume level on the receiver, it has no affect on any of the speakers. I'm thinking this may be a downfall of using an external amp vs. using the zone B/presence outputs. Anyone experience similar problems?

The amp shouldn't be the problem. If there is no change in volume then the zone 2 line-out could be set to 'fixed'. Check the setup menus for zone 2 and see if there is a 'variable' setting.

Thanks for the reply MDS. I thought the same thing initially but have been unsuccessful finding such a setting in the setup menu. I'm sure its here somewhere, but haven't figured it out yet.

Reading through the manual I could only find an adjustment for zone 2 using the internal amplification. The zone 2 pre-outs appear to only have a fixed output. This feature may not be available at this level of receiver.
