I just set up my new yamaha 1500. I am not getting center channel sound when listening to anything but stereo. Additionally, when I play a DVD I am only getting the surround sounds but no center channel. In other words, the people are talking and I can't here it. Remember, everything is working well on 7.1 stereo so I do not think it is a loose connection. Any suggestions?

Stereo mode should not have a center signal. Souunds like something is wired wrong. Have you ran YPAO?

Start by running the test tones as outlined on Pg 52 of the manual to make sure each speaker is getting the proper signal.

Hello
Make sure the Center channel speaker wire is terminated at the center channel binding post Its easy to inadvertently put it in the "B" channel Left speaker terminal. If all is well push test button on the remote located just below the directional pads. Cycle through the speakers as the test generator is playing and see if you have test tone when you reach the center channel If not go into setup menu and select center large or small most likely small
Or you can just run YPAO as others have suggested ;)

You always look for the biggest problem first, then you at last check your wiring and that is the problem. I was driving myself crazy last night looking over the book and trying to figure out what the problem was but it was the wiring. The negative must not have been tight enough and the wire slipped out! Thanks
