Help with wiring sub to amp to AVR

I am fairly new to this, so please mind my ignorance. I am looking for some wiring assistance for my DVC passive sub - to amp - to AVR.

Pic 1 is of the rear of my receiver
Pic 2 is the rear of my amp

All speaker connections are pretty straight forward, just need help with the sub connection. receiver rear.jpgamp rear.jpg

I have wired my sub into the 1st set of connections into the amp (channel A). I am assuming that I need to take the "sub out" from the receiver into the amp, but don't know to which connection. The Amp inputs include Red/White "Aux" and red/white "CD/DVD". The amp outputs include Red/White "Rec Line", Red/White "Pre" Red "Sub 1" and White "Sub 2". Thanks,

Hi. Which sub do you have? That can help us verify that our recommendations are correct.

How many speaker-level inputs does your sub have?

If just one (so, one red and one black terminal), then:
(*) Connect the subwoofer output from the receiver to the white RCA jack on the amp for the "Aux" input (it could be any of the four inputs, but I'm being specific for the rest of the instructions)
(*) Connect the "L" speaker terminals for the "A" channel to the sub
(*) Select the "Aux" input on the front of the amp

If the sub has two speaker-level inputs (so, two red and two black terminals), then:
(*) Connect the subwoofer output from the receiver to the red and white RCA jacks on the amp for the "Aux" input (it could be either set, but I'm being specific for the rest of the instructions) using a y-splitter
(*) Connect the "L" and "R" speaker terminals for the "A" channel to the sub
(*) Select the "Aux" input on the front of the amp

The sub has two inputs. one black/red on each side. I believe it is 8ohms.
Once I have the connections in, do I have to configure any settings on my receiver for the sub? (sony strdh520)

I tried this, but was not able to get sound from the sub. I did run an auto calibration from the receiver to all the speakers to make sure that the receiver recognized the sub, in which case it did find the sub and sound did come from it. But when trying to play any music the low frequencies are not coming from the sub at all. At this point, I feel as though it could be a setting on the Sony Reciever. Is there a specific setting I need to adjust on the AVR to show that I have an amp hooked up to a passive sub?

Hi. My guess is that you'll need to go in and (a) set your speakers to "small" so that lower frequencies are sent to the sub and/or (b) adjust the crossover setting. You'll have to decide if it sounds better with or without the sub, as your speakers might do fine on their own.

Which Sony receiver do you have? If you let us know (and if one of us has the time), we can probably find the manual and let you know what page to look at for those settings.
