Help with what receiver to choose...

Hey everyone, I just picked up a pair of old 3-way pioneer floor speakers, and was wondering what receiver would go good with these. They're rated at 150 watts each, I don't have the model number with me at the moment because I'm not at home, but can get it later if needed. I'm looking for a not so expensive receiver to hook up to my ipod, play some cds, and possibly hook up to my hdtv/ps3 in the future. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

They just had an article on this. I suggest you check it out. See the feature you want and look for a refurb from that line for a good deal.

Hi, and Welcome to the club. :)

Isiberian is probably referring to this article:

* But do realise that those are MSRP. Street prices would be quite less. And also, there is no Onkyo on that list; the model closest to that list, would be the Onkyo TX-SR706 (excellent receiver by the way), so you can check that particular receiver from Onkyo own web site, to see if you're happy with his set of features.

Tip: Gather as much info as you can, or take a spin at some models that are avail from nearby audio stores. Take your time, and be happy while you're doing it. For your Pioneer speakers, any receivers from that list could probably be a good match. Instead, concentrate on the features you can certainly benefit from. :)
~ And by the way, for these kind of receivers, look at a street price of about $500 (less in some cases). Places to look for are: Accessoies 4 Less, 6th Avenue Electronics, J&R, Audiogon & videogon, just to name a few.
Hopefully, it is within the budget you already have in mind, cause you ain't mentioned it.

*** In your particular case, for what you're looking for, it seems that the Pioneer Elite VSX-21TXH would be the right ticket; it has i-Pod connectivity, and it also has an USB port, plus your speakers are also from Pioneer. :)
That should work quite well, what you say?

Cheers,
Bob
