Attached are plans and photos of my 5.1 system and room. One RTi A1 blew up, and upgrade fever took over.
-LivingRoom plan with existing RED speaker locations and possible PURPLE CHANGE
-Photo from sofa showing Red and Purple locations.
-Current Right Front speaker hangs dangerously from an outside corner.
HSU STF-1 behind sofa 2 inches from walls. 10 yrs old, seems to be working, replace??bigger VTF2-MK5
2 Polk RTi A1 for L/R and matching center - Replace with Hsu HB1 MK2's + center OR YOUR SUGGESTIONS ABOUT ALTERNATES
2 Polk Blackstone Tl1's for rear speakers - Probaby Keep , no room for BIGGER rearS
2448 cu ft living room partially open on 3 sides (cu.ft. of other rooms on drawing)
70%films/30%music No big action, battle, horror, room-shaking movies. Dialogue is important to us and sometimes difficult for my 71 year-old ears. Also slight medium high-frequency hearing loss in a few very particular frequencies which I don't pay attention to.
AVR rcvr Pioneer VSX-820 which I may replace for improved TV picture, simpler usability, internet ability for music.. We rarely play the Pioneer more than 50% volume
Questions
1. Please advise us about how much difference we might notice moving Right front from Red location to Purple where it would be on a 16"H x 13"Wx 13.5"D shelf. Hsu HB1 MK2 is only 8 inches deep, so the port would be 5.5 inches off the back of the shelf. If it makes a difference I would also slide the Center 20 inches to the left as shown in purple outline, to separate it from the R front speaker.
2. How important is upgrading the HSU STF-1 behind sofa with BIGGE Hsu VTF2-MK5
