Hey folks,
This is my first post to this forum, though I have been following the goings-on for quite a long while now. I thought I would start of my first post by asking for advice on which universal player to purchase. I'm about to pick up a 50" Samsung 1080p DLP RPTV in the next few weeks and want a good player to maximize my image quality. However, I also have a strong preference for convenience and sound quality. I am currently running an Orb Audio 2.1 speaker system through a Denon 3806 AVR. I'm on the fence between the newer Denon 2930CI or 3910 players and was hoping some of you wonderful people could give me some input that might steer me in the right direction. At this point, the DenonLinkIII feature of both is very appealing to me. The simplicity and quality of the digital link appeals to the engineering side of me. I do not concern myself with esoteric brands nor do I consider myself a member of what I call the "mustache club", that being guys with nothing better to do than stand around in AV stores and wax rhapsodic on PE distortion and how good their cables "sound". I like good quality components and I'm probably about 60/40 on audio/video quality. This player will likely serve the role of universal disc player for the next few years. After that time, I will likely pick up the next gen player and push this puppy off to dedicated 2-channel duty in an office or bedroom. So, the audio outputs are important for the long run. The video is not as critical which is why I'm heavily leaning towards the 3910 as it will likely serve both needs well and serve as a solid 2channel player down the road. My greatest desire is to know to what extent I will notice differences in perceived audio and video quality between the two. I would greatly appreciate any input you folks might have.
Thanks everyone in advance.
