Hi guys im currently trying to finish my HT setup, im looking into Subs now, since my purchase is price sensitive, im looking at the Velodyne Impact 12 or the Emotiva ultra 12, the living rooms is 17X21 ceiling is about 12-15 feet high.

Im thinking of going dual subs but im not sure if it is to much for the size of the room. speakers are Acoustic Energy Aelites , ones, center and Three. REcevier is the Pioneer Elite sc-35. Im also trying to figure out what is a better option for onwall rear surround as space is an issue with my HUGE sofa. For the onwall im looking at Jamo A500 or difinitive xtr-20.

I really need advice on the sub choice and the number of sub, also the rear surround choice .

Thanks so much

Not sure about the rear surrounds as I haven't started my own search for those yet.

However, if I were at your price point at that size room (4284 - 5355), I'd seriously look at dual Emotiva Ultras simply based on their review here on audioholics. Give a ring to a reputable manufacturer and see what they say (Emotiva, SVS, HSU, Rythmik to name a few) about your system goals & room size.

With your relatively large room and high ceilings, I would definitely go with dual subs to increase spl and smooth out the response. I haven't heard the Emo-12, but it has great reviews. So we can further assist, what is your budget range? I own two Hsu subs and recommend them highly.

A lot depends on what you plan to play. If it's music then maybe dual Ultra 12s but if it's for 50/50 music/movies I'd be looking at a single Hsu VTF-15 or dual VTF-2s.
