The answer to your question is easy. Try Westlake. you can get Beldin wire, the same that BlueJean Cable uses. And at Westlake its about 0.13 a foot for 14awg and only a little more for 12awg.
This is CL3 rated, Here is a link at 0.17. http://www.westlake-electronic.com/cgi-bin/store.php?search=yes&detail=yes&category=CAB&SUBCAT=BEL-&hits=150&item_no=BEL-13297
Here is 14awg for 0.13

And here is 10awg for 0.28 http://www.westlake-electronic.com/cgi-bin/store.php?search=yes&detail=yes&category=CAB&SUBCAT=BEL-&hits=120&item_no=BEL-13242

also should i get something like this for the connections or just do a raw one? http://cgi.ebay.com/10-PAIR-ATLONA-QUALITY-SPEAKER-BANANA-PLUGS-CONNECTOR_W0QQitemZ5796755537QQcategoryZ32838QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem#picture

also how exactly do u put together a banana plug? do you have to solder it?
I agree with Brian -- Westlake is a great source for bulk speaker wire -- Belden 5000UE either 12 gauge or 14 gauge. jaxvon is also a very strong proponent of Belden cable from Westlake. I just got 200' of the 12 ga at $0.19 per foot plus $9.52 shipping -- $48.03 delivered. It's a little stiff, but very durable. 14 ga would probably be just as good for short runs, but you would probably want the 12 ga for longer runs to minimize line attenuation of the signal.

I also searched pretty hard for reasonably priced banana plugs and ended up at whoesaleaudioaccessories.com -- here's the link -- http://www.wholesaleaudioaccessories.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=BSC20&Category_Code=Homeaudio

I got 2 packs of 20 of these babies and am very pleased with the quality for about $1 each. A 7.1 system requires 28 (4 per cable) so 40 is more than I needed, but wasactually less expensive than other sources for a lower quantity -- and now I have plenty of spare for other projects. 2 packs @ $22.95 = $45.90 + 10.75 shipping -- $56.65 delivered.

No soldering needed, just strip off about 1/4" of the wire insulation, insert into the end of the plug and screw down tightly - being sure you screw down on the bare wire and not the insulation -- i.e. don't put the wire in to far. Note: you will need a good screwdriver with a narrow bit (<=1/8") to fit in the counter sunk screw hole.

After making all 4 connections on each cable use a contintuity tester to be sure the connections are good. Check red to red and black to black for continuity. Also check black to red to be sure there is no short between the lines (the continuity checker should show open).

One last thought -- be sure to get enough cable. At $0.19 per foot it's pretty cheap, so don't scrimp. You're bound to make a mistake or two (I did) and you may run into problems with the routing. Where you may have thought there was a clear path -- you may need to reroute when you least expect it. Don't end up short -- needing to run down to your local Home Depot and pay full price. You can always use the extra cable in other projects or to decorate the Xmas tree.

Good luck with your project.

also, is less strands better then more strands? In your profile you use the 19 strand one.

I bought it because it was cheaper. More strands means a cable will be more flexible. Since you're actually going to be running it through the walls, you'll want a flexible cable. If you don't mind throwing down some extra cash (and having a ton of extra cable around), then you might consider picking up some of this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Monster-Cable-500-14-4-IN-WALL-SPEAKER-CABLE-WIRE_W0QQitemZ5720497971QQcategoryZ14966QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It's super flexible and it's 14/4. That means that you can use two wires for each terminal for an effective 11ga cable. So many options.

Don"t Do It!

Go with the more flexable cable! Nothing sucks more than pre-wireing something and then come in after sheetrock is done, and to a cont. test and a cable is broke! 65 strands min! Plus you have people stepping on things, pulling on things. The speaker wire has to be able to give some.

And it might not be the sheetrock guys that screw it up. It might be you while you are pulling it. Also try Pro Flex they make a good cable for installs. I am not sure of any websites that you can get it cheap though.

BTW, how did you come up with your figure for 100-150ft? How big of a room are you wiring? And is this for 5.1 or 7.1?

its a 14x10 room and a 5.1 system we figured about 110 and added like 40 ft to that to be safe....then around 150 for upstairs...which is just straight shots...there is no dry wall up there right now so we just measured it and told them where to put holes in the beams and it was a bit less then 150 feet, about 135 for 2 seperate speakers

so 300 feet now total...was going to order just for theater now, but decided to do it all together

You might want to go with a little more cable than just 100-150ft. Even if you have done this before or you are just starting out, something is bound to happen so that you have to scrap a little bit of cable. I would be safe and get at least 200ft or more. If you have extra, you can always run it to another room or something in case you want to hook up speakers elsewhere.

I've used almost 150ft in my 14x11 room, and that's OUT of wall wiring. I don't normally endorse Monster cable, but I think that might be a good bet. BMXTRIX is a custom installer and it's the only speaker cable he'll pull.

The In-Wall monster cable is not all that bad. I am not sure if it is better than the Belden cable, but it is not terrible and it performs much better than most cables out there. It is a little overpriced unless you look around eBay and find it going for cheap. I would opt for the 14/4 or 16/4 run of cable (I prefer 14/4, but for short length 16/4 is just as good).

I have debated between getting 14/4 in-wall cable and just running it out of wall (it is going to be under my large rug, I have wood floors) OR going the Cat5e rout (there is a link in my sig). I have read many good things about the Cat5 cable used as speaker wire and I am a sucker for DIY projects (gotta be unique, you know).

For In-wall cable you really cannot go completely wrong because most in-wall cable is of fairly decent quality. If you can find it, I would look for Ultralink cable (they have an in wall cable that is excellent). Have fun with the project. Be sure to let us know what you decide.
