I have an odd shaped room - mostly wooden floor, with tiles in the entry way. A sketch of the layout is attached. Reciever is a Denon 2310, left and rights are Mirage M-790's (bipolar), center is Mirage OM-C3-1. Sub is currently an older Mirage which I am in the process of upgrading. I'm not yet sure where the final sub placement will be. A Hsu VTF3 Mk III is on order.
The room layout is tough for most things - the fireplace is the focal point of the room, with a large (9' x 8') north facing window. The front wall, where the fireplace and tv are is the west wall. The room has 10' ceilings.
I have purchased two NHT iC3 in-ceiling speakers to use for surrounds. I can't easily run speaker wire through the exterior walls, so I decided to go with in-ceiling speakers. My current thoughts are to place them roughly the same distance apart as front left and front right speakers, on a line running through the center of the couch.
The actual usage is more for movies than music, but I tend to appreciate sound quality much more when listening to music, so I will optimize for music first, movies second.
Can anyone provide input and possible better options?
TIA for your assistance.
