Help with speaker choice

Thanks to all that provide some input up front.

I recently purchased a Yamaha RXV-2500, and have a budget of around $2500 to complete my home theater system. I was originally set on the Axiom Epic 80 system, but noticed that their towers were 4ohms, which I believe is no recommended with the RXV-2500. So now I have narrowed it down to either the:

1) Paradigm: Fronts-Monitor 11's
Center-CC-370
Surrounds-ADP-370
SVS: PB12-ISD Subwoofer

or

2) Axiom: Fronts-M60ti's
Center-VP100
Surrounds-QS8's
SVS: PB12-ISD Subwoofer

Both of these systems are in my price range, looking for any recommendations as to their compatiblity with a Yamaha receiver, alternate packages or which one of the two you audioholics recommend.

Thanks alot

FWIW, I am aware of several people on this and the Axiom forums who use the M80s with the Yammie receiver without any problems. So that isn't necessarily a barrier. YMMV.

That yammie would make the paradigms sing. I haven't heard axiom, so can't comment on those, but the paradigms with a yamaha is an absolutely incredible sound. Have to listen for yourself, but can't go wrong with paradigm!!!

Another $.02

Not that I'm trying to make your decision harder but here it goes: I have the Yami 1400 and heres what I auditioned and wanted to audition.

PSB T65
Energy C-9
Paradigms (never was able to make the long drive to audition)
Axiom M60's (same as above -Axiom audition referrel from their website)
B&W 603's
B&W 604's
Totems (bottom of their line)
Dynaudio (waaaaay out of my price league but had to listen anyway)
Meadowlark (bottom of their line)

My main concern was the rear port on the Energy, Axiom and 603's. My speakers need to be up against the wall due to space issues. I ended up going with the 604's (only front ported) wondering if I made a mistake for not
auditioning the Axioms (original my first choice to purchase). They sounded really good out of the box. I left the stereo on all week while I was at work to break them in. Yes, I went way over budget but as my wife always says "they were on sale." I cranked them way up last night and they sounded GREAT. I was sitting in the dark with a giant smile on my face no longer regretting not auditioning my first choice and the Paradigms.

I hope this helps.

Thanks

If I can get confirmation on the M80's working fine with the Yamaha RXV-2500, that is probably the way I will go. I like the paradigms, but wish the center and surrounds also were available in the rosenut finish, which it looks like they are not.

Thanks again Members for all you help. Still will be checkin posts! :)

it might be worth your time to look into a dedicated amp for your fronts.. a pair of Outlaw monoblocks or something like that would not only take the heat of the 4 ohm load, they'd free up a lot of headroom in the 2500 for the rest of the system. It's not a cheap option, but it might be worth a look...

You really need to audition both speakers and come to your own conclusion what sounds best to you.

First part of your question...

I'm sure that reciever would probably power 4 ohm speakers just fine.
