hi,

i hope someone can help me.

about 4 years ago i bought a creative ddts 100 decoder that allows me to share my 7.1 pc speakers with my tv, dvd player, xbox and ps3. It is one of the best gadgets i ever bought.

unfortunaltley mine is no longer working and i now find that they no longer make them.

Is there an alternative to this product? i have done lots of google searching and there does not seem to be anything.

I've seen them on ebay but at extortionate prices ($400 - $500).

If there is no alternative product is there some other way to achieve the same result. I've read threads about having an extra soundcard on the pc or buying some sort of receiver but i didn't fully understand how these would work.

Would appreciate any guidance on this as i am really stuck to know what to do.

thanks.

Looks like somebody started a petition here:

That device is pretty unique, the only comparable thing I can think of would be to purchase a receiver with pre-amp outputs, then use 3 stereo RCA -> 1/8" female converters to change it back to PC style connectors. You could buy one of the older generation receivers with preamp outputs, so long as it has enough optical/coax connections for your needs.

I used to own the Soundblaster Extigy which could sorta be used as a standalone decoder (Dolby Digital & PCM only, didn't support DTS). The problem is that unit only had 3 useful inputs (one optical, one coaxial, and one stereo line-in). Also it wasn't really designed to select between the 3 inputs if you had multiple devices connected.
