Hi, i'm pretty new to this forum, so here goes!
I have at the moment a acoustic solutions DS1233 surround sound system, connected to a Medion MD 41059 DVD player, and I'm trying to get a balanced surround sound... The set-up is as follows:
Basically,The TV is 10ft from my sofa, and the speakers are placed here:
the centre speaker is on top of the TV, 10 ft away from the sofa, the F/L F/R speakers are 10ft away from the sofa, with the woofer by the side of the TV, again, 10ft away from the sofa. The rear L and rear R speakers sit alongside the sofa, say about 2ft from me.
each speaker has a 5db output, apart from the woofer which has 4db.
Now, I can change the distance, the output, and the size of the speakers ( small/large) from the control panel on the DVD player, while I can change the volume of the centre, rear, and woofer, from the acoustic solutions 5.1 surround system.
Am I right to assume that you measure the distance of the speakers from where you are sitting to each speaker? or do you measure the distance from the DVD/TV to the speaker? Which is the best solution to set-up the speakers? is there anything on the web that might help?

Welcome to the forum!

Yes...measure the speakers to the seating area. Because the rear speakers are so close to you, try lowering the output of them (and.or raising the sound of your fronts) to balance to the sound coming from the front three speakers. One link says your system comes with a test CD!? Try using that...someone states on treir feedback that it was easy to use and calabrated the sound correctly. If you dont have one of the test discs, just have fun playing around with it until the sound is just the way you like it. You should hear the same sound levels from your front (L/R) as your rear surrounds. Have Fun!
