help with receivers

I know that this subject has been discussed before but...

I'm having trouble deciding on a receiver. I'm considering the Denon 3806/3805 and the Yamaha 2600. I've listened to both the 3806 and the Yamaha 2500 (not the 2600 that I'm considering) and I like the warmer sound of the Denon. I'm not sure if the 2600 sounds the same as the 2500, but I like its many feature (and that it is the 2005 POY.) I like to have HDMI switching and the upconversion capability on a receiver as I plan to purchase an HDTV with at least 1 HDMI input and I'll have DVD and cable/satellite with HDMI output.

So, the question is should I go ahead and invest in either the 3806 or 2600 (and then which one) despite the problems with these receivers' HDMI switching, or save some $ and go with the 3805?

Thanks for everyone's input.

New receivers.

If you don't have multiple HDMI sources, then you might consider the less expenive Denon 3805 or Yamaha 2500. You can always add an HDMI switch down the road.

If you must have HDMI, the new Yamaha and Denon are both good options. The Yamaha will also upscale all video to 720p or 1080i which may be valuable to you. If you are patient, wait for the Audioholics review which they are currently work on. It has been rumored that the amp in the 2600 is even better than the 2500.
