Help with receiver for home theater/audio

I am a newbie here so appreciate your thoughts. I am in the middle of a home renovation and setting up a system that will be used for home theater and audio (probably 50/50 split). Room is 23x13 and I am looking for a receiver to go with a 42" Sony TV and Polk LSi speakers. I am really looking for bang for the buck and don't want to spend any more than $800-900 bucks for the receiver (just want something that will cover my needs to drive this system - if I can do that for $500 that would be great). I need multi-room functionality as this will serve some outdoors and another set in the kitchen.

I have been looking at Denon 2805 and 3805 and also seen alot about Yamaha here on some postings. Don't want to over buy on this so would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks!

You are going to really need some power for your LSi's. You won't appreciate the sound with standard receivers. I can't even say the 3805 would do the trick, although it's a pretty good buy for the money. Watch this unit - hopefully it doesn't skyrocket.

This will do ok. Out of all of the receivers in this price range, this is the most neutral/powerfull, IMO.

I assume you have the towers? Unless you step way up in price you aren't going to be able to really drive those speakers.

The other option is to go with something that has a good preamp secion and add an amp.

I would get the marantz and try it, if you feel you need more power, you could always add an amp later.

It did skyrocket. I knew it would. Dammit. This will drive your speakers. It's a good buy up to about $650.

I also like the Marantz, but would add a secondary two channel amp with it. Possibly this one? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=71547&item=5780102565&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
