I am currently debating buying either the Denon 3806 vs, the Pioneer Elite vsx-82. I have heard great things about both. Does anyone know any pros and cons regarding these models that could help in my decision making process. Or other alternative receivers comparably priced?

After eading the online reviews posted here is it true that pioneer has problems with its video interface or upscaling?

When it comes to mid-fi receivers, Yamaha and Denon are the only way to go. Just my opinion.

I agree with zumbo and would add that if you are new to AV receivers the Yamaha would be a better choice because the user interface and manual are pretty bad on the 3806. I am not saying 3806 a bad receiver, I own one and like it a lot, just take into consideration of the above mentioned caveats if they apply to you.

I always thought that Yamaha had a bad user interface. I like Onkyo's user interface, it is simple.
