Help with rear speakers

Hello everyone,
I am finishing up my HT system and have a question I hope somebody can help me with. My amplifier is a B&K Reference 7250 which is rated at 200x5. My fronts are Paradigm Monitor 7's, CC-370, and a PS-1000 sub.(all V.4) I got a great deal on a pair of mini monitors which I would like to use for my rears.(Also V.4) The mini monitors are rated at 80 watts. Will my amplifier damage the mini monitor speakers since they are only rated at 80 watts and my amp is rated at 200 wpc? Also, are the mini monitors acceptable as rear speakers? Thanks in advance

Surround speakers

First, the surround channels in a 5.1 setup are located on the sides of the listening position. If you upgrade in the future, consider dipole type speakers for the surrounds and move the mini monitors to the rear surrounds.

Yes, your new speakers will be fine connected to the big amp. During normal usage, you will probably be sending less than 10-20 Watts to those surround speakers. Speaker damage is usually due to overdriving the amp which causes it to clip the audio signal and ends up frying the tweeters. Obviously you will not have that problem.

Thank you jcPanny. Can you tell me what dipole speakers are. I have seen them before. I assume they are strictly for 5.1 configurations being placed on each side of the listener. Again, thanks for the knowlege.
