Help with projector & audio set up

hello everyone!

I’m totally clueless when it comes to setting up anything audio/video so I’m hoping to get some help/ideas here! My issue is that we have a projector that we connect to a macbook via HDMI for video and use a bluetooth speaker for audio. This feels like it could be done way better as it’s such a hassle to plug everything in and connect just to watch a movie.

We used to plug our “actual” speakers into the laptop via a 3.5mm audio jack but have moved into a new house since where the speakers sit across the room from the projector.

Ideally I would like to have as few wires and cables as possible but I just can’t wrap my head around how to do it.
My idea was to place an Apple tv near the projector and buy a bluetooth adaptor for our (analog) speakers. Would that work? Any other ideas? We don’t have a normal TV btw.

How would you do it?

The problem with wireless is that the entire system will rise and fall on the quality (read stability) of the transmitter/receiver system. Bluetooth is the cheapest option, but also the most problematic since it uses the crowded 2.4 GHz band, and as such is prone to interference from other devices in your house, or maybe even your neighbor’s house, if it’s close enough to you. The Avantee Oasis, which can be set as a transmitter or receiver (you want the former), seems to be better than most in the reliability department. If you find that doesn’t work well, the options start to get expensive. Other options are discussed here.
