Help with Pre/Pro Decision

I have a question regarding replacement of my 7-year old 5.1 A/V receiver. I have been slowly upgrading my system for 7.1 and a preamplifier/surround processor with separate power amplifiers.

Below is my list of STUFF and current configuration using AVR as a Pre/Pro (primarily) and using AVR amplifier to drive auxiliary speakers.

LIST of STUFF;
AVR - Sony STR-DA333ES
- Auxiliary (Deck) Speakers – Infinity Outrigger Jr.
Stereo Amp – Rotel RB-1090 (Main Speakers)
- Main Speakers – Sonus Faber Grand Piano
Multi Channel Amp – Rotel RMB-1095 (Surround Speakers)
- Center Channel Speaker – Sonus Faber Solo HB
- Rear Surround Speakers – B&W DM 602 S2
- Side Surround Speakers – Niles MP 650 (in wall)
Powered Sub Woofer – Velodyne VA-1250x
DVD Player – Sony DVP-NS999ES
CD Changer – Sony DVP-CX777ES
VCR – Sony SLV-677HF
Game – MS XBOX 360
Video – Sony KP57HW40
Cabling – mostly Monster, some Audioquest
Control – Universal MX-850

I use my system about 60% 2-channel music and 40% multi-channel music and movies. I am considering the Krell HTS 7.1 or the Anthem Statement D1. The D1, I understand, is probably being discontinued and being replaced by the D2. I am not interested in all of the video scaling the D2 has to offer at this time. I am more interested in the audio capabilities. I prefer to connect my video outputs directly to the video display and don’t have a HD 1080p display anyway.

I am looking for Pros/Cons to either the HTS or the D1. I have found deals on both Pre/Pros. Can you suggest any other Pre/Pros other than Krell or Anthem?

Can you suggest any reason to go with a 7.1 AVR, other than driving the aux speakers? I figure I can continue to use the AVR I have for that.

Thanks!

Looks like you're decked out real well as far as speakers & separate amps go. I have heard great things about the Outlaw pre-processor along with one from Sherwood Newcastle (model #'s I don't have, sorry) I have not heard either one so I can't offer my opinion. A separate pre-processor is really all you need for a killer system. I wouldn't even entertain the thought of a new receiver with what you already have. As a side note take a look at room treatment, it is probably the best bang for the buck you can spend.
