Help with new sub purhcase

My Pioneer Elite Receiver VSX-92TXH is on the way and I want to get my speaker setup thought out beforehand. Currently, a small Kenwood 8" sub is doing LFE duty (poorly) in conjunction with my Klipsch KLF20 towers. I have the opportunity to purchase select Klipsch, Martin Logan and DefTech subs at killer prices so my choices are limited to them. I also have the opportunity to demo all subs by these manufacturers.

My audio needs are 60/40 music and TV/Movies. The listening room is large at about 3300sq ft and is open at almost all ends to a foyer, dining nook, sliding glass doors and a hallway. Ceilings are 8ft and sub placement will be at the right side of the front stage in the corner of the room.

The KLF fronts are fairly efficient and are rated at 34 Hz-20 KHz +-3db. The center is a matching KLF-C7 and the rears are going to be replaced.

The subs I am currently considering:
Klipsch Reference RW-12D ( I can get this for $279 and is the lowest priced of the bunch by far!!)
DefTech Supercube II, III
Martin Logan Abyss

(SVS PB10-NSD and HSU STF-2, VTF-1 will also be considered before my final purchase is made. I already am aware of the outstanding performance of these subs.)

Please advise me which subs you would recommend out of these listed and why. I am eager to hear your comments! Thanks in advance for any help and advice offered.

I would definitely pass on the Definitive Tech super cube subs, they are not a good bang for buck at all.

If you can get the RW-12D for that low a price, jump on it.:)

While The SVS and HSU subs are very good for the money I don't think you are going to get anything that can compete with the RW-12D(at that price) unless you do spend 2-3 times as much.

3300 sq.ft? That is like 50 feet x 66 feet !!!

You would need a pair of SVS PB-13 Ultra to even start having an impact.

If you get a 10" sub, the air displacement requirements will cause the sub to bottom out.

Suggest you subdivide your listening room to a more reasonable and practical size. Then contact SVS directly for suggestions. SVS is very good in providing honest and unbiased opinions.

I'm sorta thinkin' that he meant cubic feet.

If so, that would make the room size in the neighborhood of 412 square feet, or something along the lines of a 20 X 20 area, or similar.

I am not a big Klipsch fan but for 279 bucks I would jump all over that sub!

Yes, it was meant to read cubic feet. Sorry about that.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I will pull the trigger on the Klipsch today. If I don't like it, I can always make back the $279 if I resell it down the road
