Help with my wiring please!

Ok, so I am a complete and total newbie to the wiring/audio world, at least on the home audio level.

So I recently acquired a stereo system. However, the speakers the guy gave me with it are trash. I want to install 4 in-wall speakers, 2 on the wall, and 2 on the ceiling.

I've seen wall plates with speaker inputs, and I think this is the route I would like to go, just for the flexibility. But I'm kind of confused. The one I'm looking at lets you put the wire directly onto the wall plate, or attach banana plugs to the wire, and plug those in.

The one concern I have is safety. By splitting the wire into two pieces between the time it goes from the amp to the speakers, am I creating a fire hazard?

Is this even the best option to go with? Is there a better way?

This is all low voltage stuff so no fire hazard. Just make sure you use CL2 OR CL3 speaker cable (or what ever code is in your area) Regular speaker cable is not approved for in wall/ in ceiling use.

Wall plates are nice and tiddy so if you can see where the wire comes out from the wall, use them. If you can't see where it comes out, just use a plate that has a hole in it. I use light switch covers and pull the wire through the hole as you can't see mine.

Another post and run, perhaps? The OP hasn't had any activity since posting the question.

Thanks for the good answer, Greg.
